Paul graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Kinesiology in 2012. Paul continued his education by getting his Canadian Society for Exercise Physiologist’s Certified Exercise Physiologist designation (CSEP-CEP) in 2013. In addition, he also completed his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CSCS) in 2014. However, always eager to learn and provide his clients with the best service, Paul continues to expand his knowledge and stay up to date with current research through continuing education and post-graduate certifications.

A believer in mentorship and continuing education, Paul has made it a priority to mentor students, young professionals and colleagues within the field of health and fitness. As an advisory board member of the Manitoba National Strength and Conditioning Association, he also helps develop and implement continuing education courses for all strength trainers in Manitoba.

A true outdoorsman and adrenaline junkie, Paul enjoys getting away from the busy “city life” by spending time hunting and fishing in the backcountry, snowmobiling and alpine skiing in the winter months, and breathing the fresh air while running. Having been an athlete in competitive hockey, this has given Paul a personal understanding of the importance of sport-specific training and the physiological and physical demand of sport.

A strong believer that exercise is medicine, Paul takes a multidisciplinary approach to training by working closely with allied health professionals such as a physiotherapist, physicians, massage therapists, and registered dietitians.

His mission is to help others achieve their goals and educate them about the benefits of exercise and lifestyle changes. Be warned; Paul is a stickler for proper form but he is also patient and persistent with his clients. He is also known to be very competitive and will never shy away from a gym challenge!

What is the cost of the program?

The initial cost of the program is $150. (Please contact to inquire about corporate discounts)

This cost covers the initial consult, your periodized health plan, service budget, and quarterly follow-ups. There may be additional costs for allied health services (e.g., massage therapy, physiotherapy…). However, if you have access to a health benefits package or health spending account, your Health Advisor can help you lower or eliminate these additional costs.

What is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist?

The Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) designation is a post-graduate certification that is recognized to be the Canadian gold-standard in the field of Kinesiology.  In order to get this designation, individuals must have completed a university-level education (bachelor’s degree) in a related field of exercise, health and the human body. The role of a CEP is to offer physical activity counselling, assess physical health and fitness, provide physical activity and exercise prescriptions, and offer dietary advice within their scope of knowledge.

How often will I meet with my health advisor?

You will have an initial consultation followed by three quarterly check-ins. Additional consults are available at an extra cost.

How will my health advisor keep me on track?

Your Health Advisor will keep you on track by doing check-ins and quarterly follow-ups. Similar to how a financial advisor would check in to see if you’ve stayed on track with your budget, your Health Advisor will do the same with your health plan and adjust if need be!

Where can I access my treatment plan?

You will receive a PDF of your treatment plan via email after your initial consult. If your plan needs changing throughout the year, your Health Advisor will send you an updated version of the PDF.

If I already see a physiotherapist, massage therapist, or dietician outside of Pure, do I still need to see a practitioner at Pure?

This isn’t necessary; however, we highly recommend it as it will allow us to provide you with a more collaborative treatment plan. With your consent, our staff can coordinate a cohesive health plan to help you achieve your goals.

What is collaborative healthcare?

Collaborative healthcare is when multiple healthcare providers work together alongside their patients to provide high quality care and improve the patients’ health

What is a periodized health plan?

It is a progressive plan that outlines the various components of your health plan and is organized on a calendar. The periodized plan takes into consideration the different events within your life (ie. vacation time, periods of high stress, seasonal activities/ sports, competitions/ events), to allow for a shift in focus when necessary, which should ultimately lead to greater success.

Professional athletes follow a periodized plan when training for a major competition or event. For example, their plan prioritizes rest and recovery during times of high stress (mental or physical) and for progression when other factors (ie. injuries, stress, workload) are under control.
