Post-Op Hip and Knee Classes

Jan 11, 2023

Recover faster and safer with Post Op Hip and Knee Classes at Pure

Did you know that participating in a rehabilitation program can significantly improve your recovery time post-surgery?

Getting a hip or knee replaced can be a scary undertaking and you may have a lot of questions about what you can and cannot do while you recover. This is where we come in. We want to provide you with the tools and confidence to get back to the things you enjoy.

Post-Op Hip and Knee Class Participants

WHERE TO BEGIN

We recommend your initial assessment take place around 2-weeks post-op.

To begin, each patient will receive an initial assessment from one of our licensed physiotherapists to assess their individual function and goals. We will also provide you with tools and tips for dealing with any pain. Your physiotherapist will provide a recommendation for how many classes you may benefit from as part of your recovery and provide you with a home exercise program that you can do between classes.

On average, full recovery for a knee replacement is 3-12 months and for a hip replacement is 2-6 months. Every body is different, and everyone’s joints recover at a different rate. But in general, we recommend committing to 1-2 classes a week for approximately 12 weeks.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Our group classes are led by our experienced physiotherapists within our gym facility. The groups are limited to 6 participants per physiotherapist, which allows lots of opportunities to ask questions, speak one on one with your physiotherapist and reach out to others who are going through a similar experience.

The type of exercise you do will depend on where you are at with your recovery. For some, it may just be bending and straightening out your leg, for others, it might be stepping over a series of obstacles. In each class, we will work together on increasing your range of motion, balance, and endurance. We want to see you improve with each class.
