Marieke graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor Science in Human Nutritional Sciences. During university, she developed an interest in sport nutrition, and completed the Intensive Sport Nutrition Course through Dietitians of Canada in 2011. Marieke became a Registered Dietitian after completing a Dietetic Internship with Manitoba Partnership Dietetic Education Program in 2011. She is also an active member of the Manitoba Sport Nutrition Network.

Marieke has worked with a wide variety of clients from recreational to provincial level athletes as well as those looking to get back to exercise and healthy eating for the first time in years.

Marieke also provides nutrition programming for students in Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School program. She also has over 7 years of clinical nutrition experience in rehab, medicine, surgery and intensive care, with knowledge of various chronic diseases and gastrointestinal disorders.

Marieke’s approach to nutrition counselling is far from being the “food police”. She believes eating should be enjoyable and focuses on eating whole foods rather than counting calories. She also loves wading through the hype of fad diets and using evidenced-based strategies for improving wellness.
